Preparing for the 2018 Tax Filing Season

Preparing for the 2018 Tax Filing Season

The latest tax reform bill won't take effect until 2018, but it will still affect the upcoming tax filing season. If you have specific concerns about your situation, please include a note with your 2017 tax information so that we can address them while we are preparing your tax return.

In the meantime, we are requesting your help to make preparing your return go as smoothly as possible:

  1. Bring in your tax material as early as possible.  We prepare returns in the order we receive them.  The sooner we have your information the sooner we will be able to prepare your return.

  2. Make sure you give us complete information.  Include a list of any tax documents that you are waiting for.

  3. If we sent you a tax organizer, use it to be sure you are giving us all of your tax information and please answer the questions in the questionnaire section.  If you did not receive a tax organizer and would like one, please let us know.

  4. If you no longer have an item of income or expense that you had last year, please cross it off your organizer or make a note of the change.

  5. Be sure that we have the latest bank account information for having any refund directly deposited into your bank account.

  6. Please respond promptly to any questions we have and provide us any additional information as soon as possible. However it is best to wait until you have all the information before sending it so that it is easier for us to track it.

  7. Pick up and review your return as soon as it is ready so that we can address any questions that you may have.

  8. Return the signed e-file authorization form to us as soon as possible.

Thank you for helping to make this tax season go as smoothly as possible!
